Sligo Champion - Sligo Poets

Poems included in the Sligo Champion 1913

The most prominent of the Sligo local newspapers, the Sligo Champion, once again printed few poems. There is no pattern to those printed unlike the Sligo Independent with its political A.D. pieces or the Sligo Nationalist with its John Gillan local rhymes.

Those that were printed in the Champion were the usual mix, three by Sligo poets - some in memory of the dead, a couple taken from other publications and one, with a Sligo reference, from a recently published collection by a nationally known poet.
